2020: Art exhibition at the Volkshochschule Wiesbaden

The German Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty unfortunately advertised almost unsuccessfully at schools in the fall of 2018 for participation in the 4th International Poster Competition for Young People “Draw Me Abolition”. Neither of 50 schools in the Wiesbaden and Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis area that were contacted we received a response, nor did targeted inquiries in other parts of Germany by members of the German Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty show interest. In the end, the poster by two students from the Schloss Hansenberg boarding school in the Rheingau region was the only entry from Germany submitted to the competition.

This work was particularly successful for it: during the World Congress Against the Death Penalty in Brussels in February 2019, the poster from the Rheingau won the 1st Public Award! Around 30 of the best images from the competition were exhibited (after appropriate extension) from January to November 2020 in the foyer of the Volkshochschule in Wiesbaden:

2017: Art exhibition at the “Jungbrunnen” in Wiesbaden

After the German Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty had been able to convince a school class of the Gymnasium Taunusstein to participate in the 3rd international art competition for young people “DRAW ME THE ABOLITION”, the 50 best pictures were exhibited in November/December 2017 in the “Jungbrunnen” (House of Youth Organizations) in Wiesbaden. The participants had the task to deal with the death penalty by creating a poster for its abolition.
