3. Workshop for young Europeans on the abolition of the death penalty – Council of Europe, ECPM and German Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty invite you!
This summer, for the third time, a workshop or training course is being held for young people who want to campaign for the worldwide abolition of the death penalty. The organizers are the Council of Europe and the French organization Ensemble Contre la Peine de Mort (ECPM); the German Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty (GCADP) is also supporting the project again.
Target group
Are you between 18 and 30 years old?
Are you a citizen and/or live in one of the member states of the Council of Europe?
Are you studying law, journalism, political science, communication, art, education, humanities or are you a civil society activist working for human rights?
Do you have a strong interest in human rights and would you like to get involved with other young people in Europe in a medium-term project for human rights and the abolition of the death penalty?
Do you speak English and/or French? (A command of one of the two official languages of the Council of Europe is a prerequisite for participation in this course)
You have time to travel to Strasbourg (France) from June 2 to 7, 2025? (The workshop covers the days June 3 to 6. June 2 and 7 are for arrival and departure) Travel expenses and costs for accommodation and meals will be fully covered or reimbursed.

Objective

Deepen your theoretical knowledge about the abolition of the death penalty (arguments of abolitionists, situation in the world, etc.)
–>
Discover or deepen your knowledge of methods of advocacy and action work (social networks, mobilization of the general public, networking, etc.)
–>
Work with committed and creative students and young activists in Europe.
–>
Learn to understand the techniques of community project building.
–>
Have an enriching human and solidarity experience.
–>
Contribute to the Council of Europe’s mission in favor of human rights, democracy and the rule of law.
–>
Live an intercultural co-creation experience at the European Youth Center in Strasbourg.
